A dark roast which reminds us of exploring the many long established kissaten in Tokyo where locals go for a quiet coffee. Traditional kissaten started opening up in the Showa period in Japan and often retain retro features such as softer lighting, dark leather furnishings, and TVs in the corner, where coffees are preferred leaning towards darker roasts. Kissaten coffee is often served with peanuts, rice crackers, or pastries and the coffee is almost always a pour over brew. We think our darker roast lends itself well to brewing with a cafetiere or making espresso. Tokyo Kissaten is a dark roast of hand picked beans ethically sourced from Brazil, El Salvador and India. Our blend offers a full bodied balanced espresso with hints of caramel and dark chocolate.
